Hudson River Fishing Charters

Hudson River Stripers with Vermont’s Outdoor Journal

Our Hudson River Striped Bass Charters take place during the month of May. We fish between Saugerties & Poughkeepsie, just outside of the city of Kingston New York. The “Flashpoint” will be docked for the month at the Rondout Yaht Basin on Rondout creek in the Village of Connelly. This puts us directly in the middle between the Kingston- Rhinecliff Bridge & Esopus Flats, some the most prime spawning grounds on the Hudson River!! We will be hitting the Spring Striped Bass Spawning run at its peak, trolling & long lining bait for these Ocean run monsters! Hudson River Striped Bass charters are for the young & old alike, as you can take home a cooler full of great filets or quite possibly your next trophy for the wall! Fish over 30 pounds are not uncommon as the river record is over 56 pounds! But most of our fish average 15 – 25 pounds, which are prime eating fish & make up the bulk of our stringers each day.

A New York fishing license is not required to fish for Striped Bass on the Hudson River, but a Marine Salt water registration is required & is free of charge through the NY DEC. This registration allows the NY DEC to track how many fisherman are targeting Striped Bass each year, in hope to better manage the Striper fishery in years to come. The Registration can be purchased on line by clicking on this link NY DEC or they have a toll free # you can call at 1-866-933-2257.
